History of Skate-Mart International
Skate-Mart International was originally founded in 1993 as, Figure Skater's-Resource by two, USFSA and ISIA national, figure skating competitors. At the time, figure skating apparel and equipment was very expensive. Existing retailers asked suggested retail prices and higher. Most figure skaters are not wealthy by any means and skate on tight budgets.
The intention of Figure Skater's-Resource was to cater to figure skaters, selling name brand, top quality, figureskating merchandise at affordable prices. The original store not only sold figure skating merchandise, but was also a source, or resource, of skating information.
Skate-Mart International has gone through several transitions to better serve the figureskating community. The company name evolved from Figure Skaters-Resource to Figure Skaters-Resource: Skate-Mart. The original Figure Skater's-Resource was eventually dropped, leaving only Skate-Mart. As Skate-Mart grew in size, due to quality merchandise and service, the company expanded into international sales. The name changed also, into Skate-Mart International.
Today Skate-Mart International no longer provides skating information, as the company now specializes in retail sales. Skate-Mart International only sells the highest quality figure skating apparel and equipment, but still at affordable prices.
Many discount figure skating retailers have come and gone, as many more will in the future, but Skate-Mart International continues to be the leader in figure skating apparel and equipment. Skate-Mart International is the largest figure skating retailer in the world.
